Christmas Cookies Recipe

1/2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sour milk (or 1 c. sweet milk + 1 tsp- vinegar)
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs. In another bowl combine nutmeg, salt and flour. Stir soda into milk. Alternately add milk mixture and dry ingredients to the sugar mixture and mix well. Add vanilla. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle tops with sugar. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.
