| Description: |
The Town of Buchans is situated approximately 72 kilometers off the Trans Canada Highway from Badger, into the interior of the province. The population hovers round the one thousand people count, with many of those being retired and elderly. Buchans came into existence in the 1920's when a rich deposit of lead, copper and zinc were found. The American Smelting and Refining Company set up shop and the town remained prosperous until 1984 when the mines closed down. |
