1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 cup sifted flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Few grains salt
1/3 cup milk
2 cups blueberries
Cream shortening; add sugar and cream thoroughly. Add egg and mix well. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Add them alternately with the milk to the first mixture. Pour into a greased 8-inch or 9-inch square pan. Spread blueberries over the cake batter.
Topping:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup butter
Rub butter into the dry ingredients. Sprinkle mixture over the blueberries. Bake at 350@ F. for 45 to 50 minutes.
