Boiled Beans Recipe:
2 cups navy beans
1 pound salt meat cut soup size pieces.
Medium onion cut fine.
1 small turnip cut in soup size pieces.
2 to 3 medium size carrots cut in soup size pieces.
Good shake of pepper
Rinse beans well, add to boiler with 5cups of water or so.
Add chopped onion.
Put salt meat in small saucepan cover with cold water, bring to boil. About a minute or so, add meat to beans, keep water to add to beans if to fresh, a little at a time.
Bring to boil reduce to good simmer about 1 1/2 hrs or so until almost tender then add turnip and Carrot simmer until cooked.

Note: This a recipe from my mom from Brookfield, Bonavista Bay. I them, and my townie family and friends love them this way. I served them with good homemade rolls. Enjoy.
Old Recipe:
1 lb. white beans
1/4 lb. salt beef, cut in cubes.
3-4 potatoes
1 onion, sliced Pepper to taste.
Boil beans and beef for 1 hour or until tender. Add onions and the potatoes. Season with pepper to taste.
