Molasses Cookies Recipe:

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg (unbeaten)
1/2 cup molasses
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water

Cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add egg and molasses.

Mix well. Sift together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt.

Add dry ingredients alternately with water.

Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet.

Bake in 375F oven 8-10 minutes.

Makes 2 dozen.
